    Hello all,

just a quick question: I did an upgrade on one of my laptops today, for about 12 hours ago...
And it is still sitting there upgrading... Should i wait, or just hard-restart the damn laptop?

Should definitly not last this long. Why not doing a fresh install?

I tend to always try to upgrade before i do a fresh install, so i don't have to waste a lot of time.
And i just have the upgrade file from win7 to 8, so no iso.

Not sure if the key will work on a fresh install either....

Btw, it looks as if there is activity going on, since the disc light is flashing as hell :p

if that thing really finishes after more than 12 hours, I'd suggest to write a letter to Guinness books. I only remember back such times when downloading big files like 500 MB with an 28k modem over night ... lol

Get the RTM ISO and do a fresh install. Just an advice... It's a good opportunity to get a fresh and clean system. Yeah, re-installing all the stuff you had on the old system does sometimes suck and can consume a considerable amount of time, but generally, it's worth the hassle.

It did for me using the TechNet ISO.

Wow, wonder what was keeping it busy for what... 12 hours?

Fresh install takes about 10-20 minutes (depending on how fast the system is).
