Hello guys, I have been using LTSC without any problems but gamepass will not work on it at all so I am forced to upgrade to enterprise / pro.

Is there a way to do this and keep my files? I do not want to perform a clean installation but the in place upgrade options didn't work.

Any solutions for this? I thought it would be possible to switch from ltsc to regular windows without reinstalling.

Upgrade by ISO to normal Enterprise and you can keep all files and apps.

Can you show the error of the failing upgrade?

yes, just run the Win10 setup directly from the install media (and disconnect from the internet while running setup) and you can upgrade from LTSC to enterprise (non-ltsc) and keep existing files & apps

Certificates once changed, Product policy changed. Hence you can do whatever the new Product poiicy allows. This is the easiest way.

If you want to change edition completely without reinstalling (upgrade), you just need to install target certificates, and with some skills, the edition shall be changed on the spot.

Skills? Yes, you might learn them from here if luck is with you:

I'd take the internal drive out and see if it installs.
If not I'd take the drive out of the external drive and connect it internally, upgrade windows, swap it back.
You might have to fix mbr/uefi boot os list and other boot issues but it shouldn't be hard.

Would be best if you tell that up front, everybody would have told you that won't work.
