    Hello

    I currently have a Dell PC which came preinstalled with Windows 7 Home Premium. I have a DVD with Windows 7 Ultimate on it. How can I use it to upgrade/unlock the Dell PC to Ultimate without losing anything preinstalled or user files on the original instalation of Home Premium

    Thank you

    Technically, yes, provided the preconditions for OEM:SLP are met.

    wasn't possible due to slic 2.0 and 2.1 type activation but they patched the loophole with OA3.0 activation individual keys in bios.

    .. but then why not release a KB to anytime upgrade..

    <Pseudoscript>
    If InStr(5, "-OEM-") then Wscript.Echo " Upgrade only available to retail installations, please consult your OEM to get upgraded"
    </Pseudoscript>
    ?

    And what would happen to OEM:NONE SLP users means they could not use anytime upgrade.

    ..not the same as anytime?

    EDIT: just to clarify.. I'm referring to the upgrade key (PiD) being evaluated as an OEM-SLP key and not the underlying installation PiD to determine the validity of the upgrade..

    SLIC 2.1 in BIOS/UEFI and corresponding OEM Certificate installed (SLIC either natively or injected by the Loader). If the system is currently OEM:SLP activated all is good.

    still wouldn't be anything to worry about, there is a KGen to gen a key at anytime. I have personally played with it several times without fail.

    Correct. Anytime Upgrade asks for the key.

    It simply displays OEM:SLP keys taken from MDL.

    Doesn't matter. Any key will work as long as it's for the right edition of W7, ie, ultimate.
