Of coarse I can download a new version and I will in future to have at least a clean system..... I read somewhere in the threads I can alter some version indicators, and I get the update to the full WIN 7 RTM++ as updates ???? or was I just dreaming ? can someone please help me to the right thread on how to do this (if I'm right of coarse) I just can not reinstall at this time ....
You can upgrade some of the older betas to RTM by altering the minor/major number. But thats not done via WindowsUpdate, that means that you insert the RTM DVD and let it do its thing. (Same process as upgrading XP to Vista or Vista to Win7.) Im sure that is what youve read in the threads...
umm.. you can upgrade from rc to rtm.. check my link to the search results... like one of the previous posters said, you have to change the min client version number
So in summary I can not ugrade in the common sense of the word. as Titles seem to indicate. As it is possible to modify cversion.ini on the ISO disk , I need to reinstall all the software after a new instalation of the old version of windows.... This is clearly not what I'm after ... I'm better off installing the RTM directly .... (less effort , more waranty of success) In any case I thank everyone for their answer. But the conclusion seems YOU CAN NOT UPGRADE A RUNNING WINDOWS7 beta to the RTM, You neeed to reinstall ALL anyhow.
I did exactly the same as NoJuan999 in upgrading RC to RTM on a test installation. Worked perfectly but took about twice as long as a fresh install would have.
Thanks for countrdicting me, I was over focused on the OLD 7200 iso and web updates. An I've never trusted updates vey much .... I think I see now make the new system open for olther releases and voila... I'l see when I'll take the risk to upgrade Thanks in any case.
