Upgrade Windows 8 RC to Windows 8 Pro / Enterprise by following these instructions: Extract the Windows 8 ISO or copy all files of the Windows 8 DVD to your HDD. Browse to the 'Sources' folder and open the file cversion.ini. Then find the entries as in the attachment below Change the value MinClient value to a value lower than one of the RC, so e.g. 8200 and save the file. Now start the installation and pick Upgrade The Windows 8 will now start and you will keep all your files and applications. Thanks subzero19 for the info and link. just upgraded from win8 release preview to win8 enterprise without any problem. Took about 30 minutes extra than a clean install. shame on MS for not enabling this by default thanks
canouna had tried this cversion trick on WCP->WRP and found that it messed up the metro apps and Store, could people tried this trick clarify if the Modern features were not affected?
Faikee,i would try it but not at home ATM who the hell needs store and apps? as long as the OS is functional
FaiKee, so we know that win8 RC will expire on February of 2013 with key provided by MS, do you think it will affect the upgrade to win8 pro trick ¿? Can't wait to try this when i get home Have you tried it, FaiKee ¿? ^_^

No, never liked the upgrade thing......you still have a running WRP? LOL, it's long gone from my machine.
No, i meant if you upgrade from win8 RP/RC to win8 pro will it break activation from when win8 RP/RC was activated with product key provided from MS?
When you install win8, the first screen is the enter key(unless it is embedded), one way or another, it will replce the WRP key. You can skip the enter key by adding ei.cfg, but then after installation, the OS will tell you the WRP is no good and will ask you to enter a legit key for RTM.
I'm trying to upgrade from Windows 8 Release Preview to Windows 8 Pro. I've just tried editing "cversion.ini" to MinClient value 7100.00 but on starting the install, I only see the option to keep personal files I don't want to have to reinstall my apps, does this work with Windows 8 pro....Have I missed something? or is there another method to upgrade & keep my already installed apps?
