    Hello,

I am currently running Build 9879 on a laptop. I wish to upgrade to 9888. I read somewhere that the leaked ISO is VL build and cannot be activated. I want opinion your opinion whether I should go through with the upgrade or will it cause me problems.

I have upgraded to the current build from a licensed copy of Windows 8.1 Pro that I purchased from Microsoft Store and manually installed on the laptop.

    Thank You.

I have not downloaded this leaked 9888, but from what I heard: mount the ISO in a running 9879 (activated and use MS account), launch(double click) setup.exe at the root dir, do not format or do anything, just let it run the set up process on-line, when done, the 9888 would be activated. :p

For the record: EFA11 was faster, but not that obvious :nsa:.

Would assume a false/positive due to changes in Win files. Remember Avira doing this if it can't determine the file correctly, bad thing in case it's an important system file :g:.

do a clean install and run it again. I can only assume until then that the previous version was the culprit.

Best way to break down the question of the system having an infected file inside the iso during install. Fresh baby fresh!

It is not impossible that malware and such can be found in MS iso's. The people at MS also get infected from time to time. I remember one occasion in particular but I can not remember what the file or deal was with it.
