It's possible the previous version was infected (but I don't think so as I had the same BitDefender a/v installed for the duration. I'm scanning the iso now. No loaders at all... activation carried over for the update - activated. I used the magnet link in Paul's jukebox thread. HASH value of download matched.
4f1609e39f1a067ae00d39c3eed7b099ede83c07 matches Paul's as well as my downloaded copy of the iso. Finished scans of both the iso and my 7-zip extraction of the iso - both completely clean per BitDefender. Odd thing is that I created an exclusion for the wpc.dll file in BitDefender. The virus shield still picked up the file as a virus and reported to have DELETED it. Nothing was deleted. Weirdness.
BitDefender just picked up another virus - this time in my user account information. I'm dumping that drive now and will probably wait awhile before reinstalling 10. What I've seen of it so far hasn't convinced me of any need for it whatsoever. 8.1 and Classic Shell do the trick for me.
click setup instead of letting it start on its own. Personally, you should consider getting that in a virtual environment. No offense meant, but you seem a little out of the loop on OS installations. Don't install this on your current setup unless you are sure you know what you are doing. We will end up helping you get back to your original state lol
At this moment I install the 9888 build on another HDD on my Laptop. Was try to update from 9879 upfront, but works. Will try the update later again, just want to take a look at the new build. After the install is done, I'll download the latest version of CureIt and check if there any suspicious files or infection as posted by MS User, which would be in 30-60min. from Nov. If everything is ok, I'll try to update from the 9879 again and if that goes, scan that one also. On the end of the day, I would like to use the HDD with the now 9879 build on it because it's a fast Black Scorpio with 7200rpm, which makes in file transfer more than 30MB/s more than the 5400rpm Disk's! Quite a difference! OK, install finish in just app. half the time than the 9879 build (on an slower HDD!)! Now downloading the CureIt from Freedrweb.com and after that's done will do the scan.
The scan stacks now on C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmpnetwork.exe:3940 for at least 5min now! Seems to be that I need to restart the scan process again. Will do an reboot now and see what happens. Maybe it's because of hidden updates from the MS-Network. Let see!
Just finished installing Build 9888 over 9879. All went fine, did get a virus warning for a DLL but did not see which one. Will check and post it. The file is C:Windows\SysWOW64\Wpc.dll Anyone get that one also. I added it to my white list for now.
Already placed back the 9879 HDD in my Laptop!! As I was try twice to update that version to 9888, I couldn't, just let do an full install while keeping personal files only! That isn't an Update!! By the fresh install, the 9888 isn't activated at all and even couldn't used the W10 P-Keys, as stated in my post above. So I keep the 9879 running there for the moment, I'm not in the hurry and for sure not in the need of that at all, have time enough to wait.
