I've been running LTSB 1607 on an offline DAW for a few years now. Works great. But some apps I use are forcing me to update to 1809. The weird thing is, after I installed the 2016 version, I went online for 3 minutes and was able to activate it with a key I bought off Ebay. I still can't believe it worked. But MS accepted it. It's never been online since. Now I'm afraid if I update to LTSC 1809, I'll lose my hassle free, activated status.
Ah, I see. So if I upgrade and activate with KMS_VL_ALL, is it true that I'll have to re-activate it every few months or so? Or can I set it and forget it? Thanks again for the replies.
So just to be clear, and licensing aside, will I be able to update LTSB 1607 to say, LTSC 1903 without having to reinstall? Honestly, I'm just a musician. And I'm finding this all a bit overwhelming. So many choices, so many issues. I mostly just want to upgrade to the latest, greatest OS that eliminates the FLS limit so I can run more plugins in my DAW. I desperately wish there were just one place with instructions to tell me what I need to do--download this, install this, run this and done.
Oh no. One last question. I'm sorry. I had actually hoped to not take any more of your time. But since I posted this thread, I learned that the the new "FLS Slot Limit Increase" is not in 1809 but instead requires 1903 or, I think, 2019 May update (actually, I get conflicting info on this.) So is it safe to assume that upgrading from 1607 to 1903 will work as well?
Well, I've spent the last three hours trying to find and download an ISO of LTSC 1903, to no avail. I tried doing the ESD thing but I can't figure out how to extract/decrypt the file. I tried decrypt-multi-release_v180925 and got nowhere. Honestly, I'm ready to give up. Thanks for the help anyway. Cheers
There is no LTSC 1903, i said enterprise 1903/9. Enterprise is available on the business ESD/ISO and by UUP dump.
Ah, thanks for the clarification. So I DL'd this :"18362.356.190909-1636.19h1_release_svc_refresh_CLIENTBUSINESS_VOL_x64FRE_en-us.esd" (it this the best one?) I'm trying to convert to ISO, using "decrypt-multi-release_v180925". First I tried the drag and drop method dropping the ESD file onto "decrypt-ESD.cmd." I get error saying "no file could be found". So, I tried running decrypt-ESD.cmd as an admin. It lets me get through all the processes except when I try to "Create ISO with Standard Install.wim", it just closes. poof. Wondering what I'm doing wrong.
