hey currently on oem installed win8 core. laptop is lenovo y500 i got a retail win8 pro key (not the pro plus). Can i upgrade my laptop win8 core to win8 pro using the "add features to windows"? Will i have to reinstall app/drivers if that works? And i read that win 8.1 will be free upgrade. When it is released to public will i be able to upgrade my windows 8 to 8.1 for free using the OEM key in bios or the retail pro key if upgrade successful? (assuming both scenarios that i want to go from core to 8.1 AND pro to 8.1) Possible? Thanks
#1. Backup first is most recommended . #2. Yep. Should preserve all settings and programs afaik. Should even work as fresh install, when online activation fails, phone route should work. #3. Should also work with 8.1, although i strictly refuse to upgrade, as there´s always the possibility to 'frankenbuild' the system.
