    Hi,

My laptop was sold with Windows 10 Home pre-installed and activated. I wanted to upgrade to Pro, so I installed Windows 7 Ultimate, activated with Daz and let it update.

When I let Windows activate itself after first installing 10 (i.e. the update immediately from 7 Ultimate) all is good and I have Pro edition. However, all subsequent re-installations of Windows give me the Home edition again.

I had assumed that Microsoft would consider the new HWID (for Pro) as an over-write of the original HWID (for Home) - but I guess I was wrong?

Does anyone have any idea how to get around this - did a quick search but couldn't find anything specific to my problem. I'm hoping to get this sorted before 29th, so I can have a 'legit' version of W10 Pro.

    Thanks in advance.

Next time you re-install either use a Pro only iso or insert a so called ei.cfg file (in x\sources folder):

ei.cfg (this one lets you choose between home or pro):
    Code:
    [Channel]
     _Default

     [VL]
     0
Or after it installed Home again go to: "change product key" and enter the generic upgrade key for pro:
the one which ends on 3v66t and let it upgrade, it will be activated by the established HWID for pro ;)

Bat upgraded His Win 10 Home Build 10586 to Pro Build 14390 by putting ISO on desktop, mounting and running setup.exe as admin. Use Key ending T83GX. Run Activation Troubleshooter when finished ;)

Hey, I've exactly the same issue.

My Laptop came with 8.1 home, i've recently upgraded it to 10 home and now I've used the 3V66T key and I'm getting 0x803f7001. Could you please guide me where to find the proper way to do it? I'm also looking how to activate office :)

Thanks for help! Im new to these forums!

If you windows is activated with a digital entitlement and Pro edition, you can upgrade your clean installation from home edition to pro edition. If not in this case, key 3V66T worn't work.

How could I get a Win10 pro hwid for my surface 3 (atom) that currently has win10 home on it? I wanna get it up to pro while the free upgrade is still an option for the next week or so. I dont think I can use Windows Loader to activate win7 on it as its in uefi mode currently. I was trying to avoid kms route if possible.

As far as I understand my HWID is connected to Windows 10 Home (Because I had Windows 8.1 Home -> Windows 10 Home) and I'd like to somehow overwrite this and make it Windows 10 Pro. Is there any way to do that?
