hey, I cannot successfully upgrade to Win 10, I am on Win8.1 Pro x64 w/WMC, when I start the the upgrade all works fine, there are a few reboots and when the installation is finished, I can see the logon screen and my user, when I click on my user I get a blackscreen and just the mouse pointer, nothin will happen anymore. with: ctrl+alt+del I cna open the menu with the taskmanager, sign off... but taskmanager does not start, I can just signoff and reboot .... Tried it now a few times, with/without Antivirus installed. Anyone with the same problem ?
What hardware ie graphics card etc are you using? Sounds to me when you try to login to the desktop windows 10 doesn't like the graphics driver. Id uninstall that first before updating.
I have tried it now with my Acer Notebook (travelmate p253-e) (intelhd graphic, 4gb ram, 250gb ssd) (win8.1 pro x64) and I have exactly the same problem like with my PC I have uninstalled: Eset SmartSecurity 8, Teamviewer, Truecrypt, any VPN Software... but every time... after upgrade just black screen and mouse pointer
How long did you wait before you gave up and Ctrl+Alt+Deleted? Mine also showed a black screen with only mousepointer, after 3-6 minuttes it continued with the installation.
5-30 minutes tried it now so often... edit: I created now 2nd User in Win8.1, started upgrade again, with my mainuser I still get a blackscreen and mouse pointer, when I press ctrg+alt+del and signoff and sign-in into my second account it works, win10 starts normaly... edit2: I think I found the problem, my mainuser account works now, in win8.1 I used the tool "oldnewexplorer" I did uninstall it, and now it works
