USB Modem connection problem, only IE recognizes connection

    I have a USB 3G modem that uses a data sim card to connect to the internet. The problem is, I can only use IE fine, but other programs like my Fujitsu Driver update utility or Windows Live Messenger report that there is no active internet connection. NOD32 updates just fine though, and so does SuperAntiSpyware.

    This is a fresh Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit installation

    How can I fix this?
