Hi, a few things you can check..... Boot into the bios and check the USB settings. USB 2.0 Support should be enabled. If enabled, test Hi-Speed vs Full-Speed to see if anything changes. Also, look for a USB setting related to EHCI (Enhanced Host Controller Interface) and set it to enabled if disabled.

I doubt the loader had anything to do with it. Another thing you can try is uninstalling the USB host controller (not hubs) in the device manager. Disconnect any USB devices before uninstalling the controller, use a PS2 mouse. Could be a case of corrupt registry entries. If this is the case, Windows should correct the problem after rebooting.

Hi, if none of the above pans out test with XP or Vista. If the problem persist, and the bios settings are in order, the hardware has failed.

Hopefully it's under warranty. If RMAing the Notebook isn't an option, Google "USB 2.0 Notebook Cards" and see what turns up. If you find something that'll work, disable the onboard USB is the bios.
