I have a Dell T3500 with an open eSata port. I have a USB 3 external hard drive that I attach thru USB 2. I want to improve performance and have the following questions. Currently get about 30 MB per second on USB 2. I think the eSata would be cheaper

    Adapter Questions
If I get an eSata to USB adapter, will it support the external hard drive? If so, what would be a reasonable expectation of speed? Would I be able to eject it like I can do now? Please recommend a solution.

    PCI Questions
I have x8 and x16 slots for PCI. The USB 3 cards look to be x1. Will they fit in either the x16 or x8 slots? What would be reasonable expectation of speed? Please recommend a solution.

    Thanks in advance.
