USB Suddenly Write Protected

    im using win7 and never had any problems with usb drives,before some days i tried coping some movies into usb and after i finished all movies when i wanted to copy some other files its saying Write Protected but it had no switch for on/off.

    any help would be great

    So when you right click on it properties --> sharing no options to change ?

    there is no sharing option,i can play files which are on usb perfectly on pc and on dvd player but can;t copy new files or format it,it says its write protected

    Of course there is My computer locate USB flash drive right click --> properties --> sharing

    Tried but didnt work this way

    when i click properties there is no sharing option only General Tools Hardware Readyboost Customize where is this sharing supposed to be ?

    there is no sharing option to me only the other options

    What type of USB is it? At least for the small flash drive type ('memory stick') the firmware will switch the device into Read-Only mode when you just have exhausted all spare cells (to replace worn-out ones). Reading is safe so you are permitted to copy your files off before trashing it.

    Please note this is one possibility only. There might be other ones (a policy exists to set USB Read-Only, too).

    tried both methos but didnt work,i dont know if its hardware issue or software,i still can play files on usb

    Try another flash drive

    other flash drives work fine,i also tried formating from ubuntu but same error it says Write Protected

    Offload the files, full format the drive, copy files back onto the drive.

    i tried all those apps but didnt work,

    i cant move the files they are locked

    But you should be able to copy them! and after that you could format the stick!

    i cant format the drive thats the point of this problem
