Hi there, can I take a HP RDX (1TB) from a Server and atatch it via SATA cable to a "normal" PC SATA Controller ? Or can use a SATA-2-USB Cable and attach the RDX drive to it, beeing able to use it as an external USB Drive on a PC ? I did not find much, except that some SATA controllers might "not like RDX" ? Does someone have more detailed infos on that matter ? It was the last chance to rescue data of a computer to a RDX drive. The RDX drive is no longer working and I need a cheap solution to connect it to a standard PC/Laptop. Thanks in advance p.s. The 1st computer didnt fully like the RDX. It shows up as 1TB Toshiba HDD in Hard Disk Sentinel and the Windows Disk Management. In Disk management It even asks to make it readable (MBR/GPD)...but then throws up a E/A Error on both selections.
If the 2.5" HP RDX SATA controller is compatible, then it will work (means, will get detected by BIOS/EUFI). Next step, is the system you are booting able to read/access your HP RDX? It's based on your host system and what format the HP RDX was forrmatted to at the time. If you use SATA-to-USB then it's based on that convertor's design. Some do need power and some others don't. Usually, just to retrieve the data, is better to use SATA-to-USB cable to avoid any BIOS/EUFI detection/mis-configuration issues.
The "HP RDX (1TB)" should be compatible with : Dell PowerVault RD1000 Tandberg Data, Imation, Quantum & IBM RDX Systems, but maybe it can be whitelisted in some other system bios.
