I'm using a 1 year old version of Winrar software
should I update it every time a new version released ?
If i keep using this old version could this cause issues in programs that extracted with it ?

As you can see by looking at the stories with Win 10, Firefox or ccleaner, using the latest is not the ultimate in wisdom...

Just install latest version you do not need to unninstall old version, no need to enter registration details it will grab your existing key along with your current settings.

I don't need to uninstall the old version to install the latest version even if I'm using the trial version ? (both r trial the old and the latest)

There recently was a security issue with an an old Winace DLL file. It's recommended to update to the latest version. A license is not expensive and lifetime. Mine is from 2008.

Never had problem with extracted files that are damaged since WinXP era, if it can be extracted it will not be corrupted unless the file itself was corrupted before archiving, i can assure you no need to worry about that.

I just noticed that winrar does RAR5 format by default now, on older version you had to select RAR5,
    RAR4x was default setting.

It's called evolution, I guess. I still have RAR 2.50 DOS version, the format used by that software is even older than RAR4 format. There is RAR2.50, RAR4, and RAR5 format now, AFAIK.

No idea if WinRAR can open the old RAR 2.50 format anymore. Something to test...

You need update do not try to make any problem by not update any program included winrar as well
Outdated version of any product can cause bug or maybe other problem ;)
Anyway about winrar you are personal user right?don't worry about trial
Because winrar have trial forever (you can keep use full feature even trial grace period end) :)
