Hi, I like LTSC 2019, but when I install on my computer, Ryzen 5600G, the motherboard drivers are not compatible with it, the system is too old..on LTSC 2021, no issue..can I backup drivers with a backup drivers program on LTSC 2021 and restore them on a fresh 2019 version?? Thanks
Weird, the OS is 6 years old (2019) and the hardware is from 2021. but a newer OS has no issues? Drivers for windows 10 should work fine. What exact mainboard are you on? And what driver exactly is too old? You can run this in a cmd window on the 2021 LTSC install: Code: dism /online /export-driver /destination:x:\2021_LTSC_Drivers And try to use them to re-install the drivers on the 2019 LTSC install. ps, 2021 LTSC is the first LTSC where they fixed some amd CPU specific issues.
same on my laptop. touchpad and audio drivers are not compatible with 17763 build, on 1904x build no issue
It's Gigabyte B550M and Ryzen 5600G, and if I remember correctly, it's Apu driver, and maybe chipset..I can't install with setup.exe...the driver is too new, for the old system
In my case, it was the other way around. I needed to migrate drivers from an older version of Windows (1809) to a newer system running Windows 10 22H2. What I did was manually back up the drivers from the 1809 system and restore them on the 22H2 system using the following command: Code: pnputil /add-driver "full path to folder\*.inf" /subdirs /install /reboot If all the drivers are compatible and correctly installed, the system will reboot successfully. Otherwise, you'll need to identify the problematic driver(s) that prevent the reboot. Hint: The drivers that typically cause issues are those that already exist on the system and may conflict with the restored ones.
Please stop the nonsense about bloat, whoever started misusing that term from the time that OEMs pre-installed all kinds of third party trial software for windows components or the pre-installed apps, which not even exist on LTSB/C (one of the main features of LTSB/C). 2019 LTSC contains some not resolved stuff for amd cpu's, which were fixed in 2021 LTSC..
I have already tried this kind of transfer and it sometimes works, but not always, especially if the driver depends on newer versions of Windows. The best thing is often to stay on LTSC 2021 if everything works well.
This was the only reason I ever moved away from LTSB 2016 (or WIN7 for that matter). I think it was the Nvidia drivers, around 2018(?) that were for "Windows 10 with no distinction between builds" that refused to install, but by now I'm sure it's many other things as well, and moved on to newer versions of Windows too. Give it a year or two and LTSC 2021 will start failing and they'll force us to Windows 11-12, and that will not happen with me the way things have been going at M$. I've already mostly moved to Debian Linux (gradually over 10 years), only booting Windows to play a game now and then these days. As for bloat, I agree, and I call anything that gets added during or after install that I don't want bloat, if it's the proper use of the term or not. Guilty! Edge, Webview, Cortana, Copilot, Backup app, Remote Connection app, "System" text all over the start menu, even Defender, System Restore, the whole "bolt on" Feature Experience Pack, it's all "bloat" to me!
