Anyone running windows 10 LTSC for regular home stuff? If so, please let me know how updates and apps work on it compared to normal Windows 10 Pro. TIA

I am using LTSC on my main rig since LTSB 2016, installed in 2018.
it has been later updated to LTSC 2019 and then to the current LTSC 2021.
    no problems to report whatsoever.

Thanks. Did you upgrade in place each time or clean install for each LTSC??

Il running 2021 LTSC now .was testing 24H2 and LTSC 24H2, but nothing needed for my part...
The perfect LTSC is 2019, but with new hardware, no support for chipset driver..that's why I use 2021....
    24H2 is bloated, even LTSC...

Greetings dear Rocco and welcome to this great forum :)

Yeah, many years ago I used Win10 LTSC for regular home stuff, and it was very nice; but you could encounter a rare (but possible) situation in a work environment that the company requires you to install some UWP apps, and you would need to install manually the MS Store app. But otherwise, it's a light and stable system :)

Dear brother, it's really true that LTSC 2019 was like a "pinacle" of Windows 10 (the codename was Redmond 5). I'm not saying that Win10 v21H2/v22H2 is bad, but I remember very well that LTSC 2019 was as fast as Windows 8.1
And of course, Win11 v24H2 is a total mess, even if many people say the opposite (they love to be manipulated by Big Corps)...

And tell me, mate, you feel Win10 faster and more stable, right??? Because Win11 v24H2 is slaggy, buggy and half-coded. Just open a single window of File Explorer (Win+E hotkey), and you will see a nasty delay with a half-drawn upper part. The same as the new "Task Manager", it's slow and simply bad coded.

What do you mean by "Regular Home Stuff"? What apps are you referring to?

I am currently using Windows 10 LTSC 2019 (1809) and Windows Server 2019 as my main OS. Works great. I also have Windows 10 IoT LTSC 2021 (21H2) and Windows Server 2022 on my computer although they are currently not used much.

I am aware that some apps (e.g. those from Adobe) follow Microsoft support policies and thus may not work with LTSC (current Adobe apps like Photoshop require Windows 10 22H2 as Adobe consider other Windows 10 versions to be "out of support"). But I don't use any so I am fine.

Adobe is notorious for its security issues on Windows.
it's risky to run it on W7. hence better run it on those OSes with enhanced security improvement. i.e. W10/11.

btw, I am using Foxit and/or Okular on all of my OSes (W7/10/11).

With usage update of LTSC in this thread, I would like to test LTSC for my everyday home use as I'm NOT adobe user.

Hey mate, Be honest... Depending your hardware, I would go Windows 10 2021 LTSC to able meet your needs.. For Windows 11 IoT Enterprise 24H2 for newer system and Honestly I have DELL Laptop runs Windows 11 IoT Enterprise 24H2 and no lagging or whatever and seem good.. I also tried test LGA 2011 (28 cores) CPU with 32GB Ram (Dual channel) and good darn graphic card that works Windows 10 and 11 and no issues...

    Best luck for you mate..

There have been some instances where I have used non LTSC versions over recent years but otherwise I have more or less been using LTSC/LTSB since Windows 10 1507 and all of our computers at home today is rocking Windows 11 LTSC.

It just works and I couldn't be more happy about it.

Windows 7 for me was the true last OS from Microsoft and LTSC/LTSB have more or less filled that gap the past decade.
