Vaio VGN-FW11M Bios

Hello guys,

Does someone, by any chance, have stock original bios for this laptop. I have the latest one R0270Y0 but i need original one before this update. I did a terrible mistake by not making a backup before updating and now I cannot find it anywhere. It will be greatly appreciated if someone still have it. Thanks a lot.

I bought a replacement battery for the laptop from dx.com and its not a genuine sony battery. To make it work bios patching is required but the patch can be applied only to original bios, patch wont work on updated bios. That's the reason Tito, yes of course you may ask. Thanks buddy.

LatinMcg, thanks for the link. What do you think, is it safe to patch with this rom? Yes R0250Y0 is the previous version before the update. Looking at the specs FW11MR and FW11M are exactly the same and i don't find any difference. Maybe R stands for russian keyboard but thats just a guess.

 

Can you download it from this link please? Thats the patch i got together with the new battery.

I just checked, the bios file for fw11mr (R0250Y0) from the link above i also found a week ago and flashed it. Bad rom (or not for this laptop) and the experience was even worse. I could turn it on but thats it, no POST and no display. I had to desolder bios chip, winbond 25X16, make a simple spi flash programmer and reprogram it. Not to mention the troubles, small smd 8 pin package, had to do everything with wires. Hopefully revived it.

 

Just today with nothing but a simple stroke of luck i have found original factory default firmware for this laptop model. I flashed it and its working like a charm.
So, first bios version is R1090Y0, date: 07/25/2008 and NOT R0250Y0, just to help someone if there is any future need. Difference is: the second update(R0270Y0) enabled VirtualizationTechnology on Vaio. I have both versions now and if there is anyone with the need of it i will be glad to send them.
