I recently ordered a Samsung HD103SI 1tb sata hdd, and I currently have a 40gb maxtor ide drive. I put the sata drive in, partitioned it, installed vista (ultimate, 32) and everything works fine. It boots up fine but if I try to disconnect my old 40gb, when I boot up from just the samsung I hang at "verifying dmi pool data..."
I've reset my bios, cleared cmos.
Please help, I just want to use my new drive and rid myself of the 40gb.

Try this, remove bios write protect from bios setup or mother board jumper. Worked for me in the past with same situation.

Check boot order in BIOS....did you install dualboot, that would leave the boot manager on the older drive which was removed...?

that happened to me after flashing my bios and loading defaults. for me loading defaults enabled the floppy. after disabling the floppy drive my gigabyte board booted fine again
