I have a Samsung Note 2 Baseband Version I605VRUEMJ9 Android 4.3 Kernel 3.0.31 se.infra@R0302-15 #1 Build number: JSS15J.I605VRUEMJ9 Harware Version: I605.06 How do I disable the OTA update? I have read only ways to stop it IF it was rooted.. Which I am not. Thanks to anyone who can help.
thank you for your reply... I don't want the OTA update because every time that happens seems things are "harder" to root. I want root and have read so much at XDA my head spins...A ton of different configuration and seems none "exactly" like mine... The best I can tell I would need to unlock my boot loader? And I am not so sure the easiest and safest way to go about doing that. that is why I am not rooted already.. I hesitate to ask on XDA as someone will reply with things like "it's all over XDA just do your research...." because I really have read and read but for some reason don't feel comfortable with out personal hand holding since I am dealing with a "expensive" phone I can't afford to be without.. Again thank you for your reply!!!
OTA crashed my phone to install ??? Unbelievable... I was looking at the phone.. it crashed (appeared to ) as it shut itself off and installed the OTA.. I am flipping out!!! so this is what I have now i605VRUAND3...Now what? Banging my head!!
note2 i605 this link is for a Note2 N7100 mine is a Note2 i605? I had to take out the link to include quoted as of low posts..(sorry) and now the phone already gave me the update without me doing it!!! GRRRRRRR so now I dont know what to do again!! ?
mate i dont own any samsung device. So i dont want to misguide you. follow yen's instructions. if i had that device then only i can work on those. since i dont have, well, i am sorry. but imo if you follow the instructions? you can do it for your device too. or if you can share the binaries with me? i can try to build you a rom. use the cyanogen thingie to extract the binaries and then post it here. and this weekend i will try to cook you a rom. but without the binaries i cannot proceed, because i would not know neither i can test the device. and make sure you got some utils to recover if it gets bricked. thanks! -paul
Thank you so much.. what I was thinking.. But question.. would I ODIN back to the i605VRUEMJ9? if so I dont know where to get it?as I dont have it..
Thanks for your reply and offer to help. However at this time I am not rooted so dont think I can get to the files your talking about. Yen's advice is for "after" I root... I have to get root first which I have not done yet since the OTA was shoved in on my phone without my telling it to do so.....(((
Thanks so much but I still have a few questions.. this link is to "REGAIN ROOT" I actually have never had root..(On this phone..and I am missing it!!!!!) So am I trying to ODIN back to MJ9 or back to out of the box state which was i605VRALJB? thanks again!!
Hate to keep bugging you... but "MY" stock was LJB ??? so your saying to just ODIN back to "A" stock MJ9 correct? Thanks
Yes, the term 'stock' is used for any unmodified firmware that has been relased by the manufacturer, no matter which one of those came with your device. I have flashed many times with Odin. Important is that you keep the order of instructions. Make sure you have downloaded the correct files to flash. If you have used Samsung KIES before, kill it! It interferes with Odin!!! Install USB drivers if not installed already, start Odin as Admin, load all the files into it (for instance the PDA), check settings and boxes, THEN boot your device into download / Odin mode, conncet to your PC and wait until drivers are fully installed. You should have a COM port in Odin and the message: Added! Finally push start
