What player do you recommend to watch mp4 movies via a LAN connection to a PC storing movies?
I mean an apk to install in my Android phone to connect via LAN to a PC storing all my mp4 files.

Edit: MX Player Pro has resolved my network issues so far. I recommend it if someone has same issues.

I recommend VLC, it's totally free with no ads and you don't have to pay to get server connection support.

I use a Windows file share (SMB) from my PC that I can pull the videos up on. This on my phone BTW

If you are talking about a standalone Android media player box then I would recommend Kodi. People often use it for those scripts that let you stream illegal media but I just use the default install of it to add my local PC as a network location and it plays videos over SMB totally fine too. I think you need to go into the settings to enable the File tab but once you have File enabled just add a new source and browse your PC as a source then fill in the user & pass and you're set.

I prefer File view to Video as the Video view wants to download and display metadata about the video files and most of the stuff I have is like gopro footage and footage i've filmed on my phone or camera so there is no metadata available to download, file browser lets you just see the folder/file layout like any file explorer so you can freely rename stuff and watch it back on the TV.

I've used VLC for 2 years now but always had connection issues like asking for a password when there's none or it can't find the network share.
No I'm not, just talking about a smartphone.

Yes you're right and I forgot to post here.
I found that MX Player Pro works quite well. Pretty much it has solved my network issues so far.
