Hi I have just been trying to install win8 on a win7 host I have tried VMare and Virtualbox I can install win7 using both not a problem Every time I try to install win8 i get this error the same on vmware and virtualbox The win8 image and DVD i am using is good i have installed from it before just not in a virtual machine Any help appreciated
that is because your host CPU does not support NX bit. you can not install Win8 on that system, or run it in a VM.
my host system will install and run that version of win8 as a host os so how come it wont run it as a virtual os E6550 core2 duo and 4 gb of ram
My processor supports NX as I have had win8 running on this pc I enabled NX in Virtualbox settings and still got the same result The same with VMware checked all the settings same result
Thanks I didn't have to enable NX couldn't find it but found a enable virtualization option enabled that Thanks for helping me round one more bit of the learning curve
Forgive me if this sounds like a silly question as I am new to running virtual systems Ram allocation I presume that the same rules apply as in a normal installation win8 x64 needs 2gb minimum ?
I just wouldn't recommend running more than 2 Virtual Machines unless you have more than 6 GB of RAM, just for future reference
