Hi, Would someone who knows more about these things tell me if I am on the right track, please. I have a laptop (Toshiba L300) with vista and it has a 2.1 slic. I have extracted the installed OEM certificate that matches the slic. My understanding is that the slic 2.1 and the existing vista certificate will bo OK for windows 7. Is this correct? All i need is the matching SKU OEM for Win 7. Is this correct too? Thanks guys.

Go here and read this http://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/7126-The-Official-Windows-7-Repository
The 2.1 SLIC is for win 7 The Vista certificate I don't think it will work for Win 7
I would get a Toshiba win 7 certificate and key and I would DEL. the EI.cfg file in the sources folder on the DVD you can use 7-zip to do that
Then when you install win 7 pick PROFESSIONAL there is no ULTIMATE Key out yet

As far as i Know you have to check this first after extracting the OEM certificate and OEM product key, it’s confirmed that Windows 7 uses the same digitally signed OEM certificate in .xrm-ms extension that is been used in Windows Vista.

my HP s5100z desktop preinstall with vista and when checking with SLIC_ToolKit_V3.2, it has a slic2.1. so i just use hp2.1.bin and hp key in the OEM slp key

No you use the certificate that you backed up with Slic dump toolkit but you may need to use HP 2.1 certificate that matches your SLIC file with windows 7 HP key.

    Hp[HPQOEM-SLIC-BPC]2.1.BIN = 213E856F | 2.1 CERT

    Hp[HPQOEM-SLIC-CPC-MSFT]2.1.BIN = 3474C7AC | 2.1 CERT

    Hp[HPQOEM-SLIC-MPC-HPQ]2.1.BIN = 4A549060 | 2.1 CERT

    Hp[HPQOEM-SLIC-WKS-HPQ]2.1.BIN = FC583380 | 2.1 CERT

    Hp[HP-ProLiant-LTP]2.1.BIN = FCF35BED | 2.1 CERT
