i recently installed vista loader 2.0 and i clearly didnt read the instructions on how it works. now wen i boot up my pc it comes up with: Booting 'Windows Vista' acpi Vista Loader 2.1.0 Done! fallback 1 find --set-root /bootmgr Error 17: File not found Booting 'Windows NT/2000/XP' fallback 2 find --set-root /ntldr Error 17: Booting 'Enter Command Line' Boot failed! Press any key to enter command line. i then found the emergency recovery method in case something like this does happen which is: 1.Boot up the computer with Windows Vista installation DVD. Choose Install. 2.At the screen where you’re asked to input product key, press Shift + F10 keyboard shortcut to trigger command prompt. 3.Change directory to the folder where Vista Loader 2.0 is extracted. 4.Execute uninstall command. however i dont understand step 3 and 4. i extracted vista loader directly to the desktop and ran it from there. can any one help me pls or tell me of another way to get rid of the problem without losing my stuff p.s. i know i should have got the genuine copy of vista
There is much simpler and efctive way..do the folowing. 1. Boot from your vista installation DVD 2. Choose English basic and click next. 3. Click on Repair. 4. Now vista will search for any installed OS, if you have more than one, choose vista and click next. 5. Once the rcovery window opens click on Command Prompt. 6. Once the Command Prompt is open, type "c:" and press Enter. 7. Now type "bootrec /fixboot" and press Enter 8. Restart. And your vista will bott normally. Note. Type the commands in the prompt window without quotas "" This boot problem some times happen when using Vista Loader, but after recovery and new installation of Vista Loader, everithing works fine. Try using Vista Loader 2.1.2, and once you have extracted the files, open command prompt and navigate to the Vista Loader folder. Once you are there type "install asus". For easer way extract Vista Loader 2.1.2, rename it to Vista and move it to c:\ Open command prompt window enywhere and type the next commands: 1. "c:" 2. "cd\" 3. "cd vista" 4. here you type the install command like this "install asus" Note. Type the commands in the prompt window without quotas "" I took Asus for an exemplary reasons, you can use any one you like that can be found in the data folder of Vista Loader. Like "inastall dell", "install acer", e.t.c. To succesifuly install Vista Loader you have to turn UAC off.
thanks but wen i type bootrec /fixboot and click enter. the volume does not contain a recognized file system please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted. so i dont know what to do about it.
It looks like your computer uses raid or you have corrupted hard drive. Doo you have any raid drivers ? If not you will have to format.
yes my hard drive runs at raid 0 i think. i dont think i have any raid drivers would i be able to download them? i would prefer not to format my hard drive since ive got a lot of stuff on it atm and i really cbf installing everything again.
You have to download the raid drivers and save them to flopy. You can find them on the manufacturers site. Start Vista setup and when prompt press F6 to load the raid drivers from the flopy. Open comand prompt as you did in your first post and run the commands that I explained in my first post e.g. bootrec /fixboot.
