Can't get my Vista-retail activated any more since upgrading to SP1. It's installed on the second partition with XP being on the first. Assuming that retail is the problem, can I somehow install an Vista OEM version over it or over XP on the first partition??
You dont need to reinstall anything. Remove the previous crack you have used, most likely pradox or some timerstop crack. Install Vista Loader for emulated OEM BIOS SLIC and you are done. The cert and the key needed will be automaticly instaled by Vista Loader.
Thanks, but I've already uninstalled paradox with Voatktoolsv.2.2 and I've used Vistaloader3.0.0.1 and also Vistaloader 2. Nothing works on this one machine. (Works on my other 2 machines!) The only difference that I see on this machine is that it has a dual boot set-up with XP and VistaSP1 and that Everest tells me this one is Vista retail while it tells me on the other two machines that Vista OEM is installed. I've done a lot of reading here but just havent been able to get this one machine activated (other than the 15 day activation).
There seems to be problems with the soft-slic-mods which are software based when you have a dual-boot system. Try a modified BIOS with SLIC license and just insert the proper certificate and key - done. I have a dual-boot system and it works like a charm.
It did not work. Nothing changed. Everest still says OEM ID is NEC. Next I did the install NEC thinking that maybe it would replace or update the existing NEC SLIC but my activation is still running down the 15 days. "Hard modded bios" huh? Guess I've got some more searching/reading to do.
This just proves that you have A SLIC, but partial only.. So geting a hard modded bios is the only think left.
Thanks for getting me this far. Any suggestion for where to start with a "hard modded bios" for my Asus board?
