Vista StartOrb in Windows 7

    Ny one missed the Vista StartOrb that comes everytime we start the PC ???
    Is there any hack to enable it in Windows 7 ???? I really missed that and also Windows DreamScenes.They were pretty cool nd i wonder whether MS includes dem in the future updates ????? :mad:

    Windows DreamScenes are gone.
    There was a hack somewhere to get them on Seven but it was rather bugy.
    As for the StartOrb, I don't really see what you mean.

    I presume you mean the Start button image? I don't remember what the Vista orb looks like compared to the Windows 7 one, but to change it you need some sort of resource editor (like ResEdit), open explorer.exe and change the bmp files inside.

    It should be pretty easy if you have a copy of the Vista explorer.exe.

    Edit:- Re-reading that, did you mean the Vista boot screen/image?

    We just get microsoft swastika come up, i do prefer the vista one over the windows 7 flashing swastika lol.

    don't quote me on this, but i believe wot ur looking for is in a file called authui.dll?? maybe swap it with one from a vista installation.

    make a system restore, browse to c:\windows\system32\
    take ownership of authui.dll, give it a .bak extension
    replace it with the one from vista ;) (alternatively, look on deviantart for other authui.dll's)

    might work, worth a shot!

    Actually it was always my opinion that the Vista startup orb was pontless.It just wasted 10s of boottime.Im very happy with win7 booting speed.It is much faster(about 50% faster than vista on my machine)
