I am a newbie to this forum and reading some of the threats, I believe the answers provided by members are of high standard and easy to follow. I am hoping to find a solution to an intriguing problem I encountered recently. ------------------------ I am using VISTA Home Premium and tried to update 14 (incl. 6 critical) patches last week. All showed as "successful" in UPDATE HISTORY and I thought that's fine. Got back again yesterday and my computer tells me that I have 15 updates waiting for me, which, when I inspected them, included the 14 which I did last week and also 'Security Update for CAPICOM (KB931906)'. I looked at INSTALLED UPDATES and sure enough NONE of the 14 had installed last week. I have downloaded these 15 updates to my desktop, and I have tried to install them from there but failed, with the exception of KB931906. Again the other 14 show "successful" in 'update history' but don't show up under INSTALLED UPDATES. I also went to look at “Windows Problems Reports & Solutions” and can see all 28 attempts I have made under the sub-heading of "Windows Installer Module"! I am also using Firefox as my main browser. Has anyone seen a similar problem and found a quick fix??? I would really like to have an answer because it is driving me crazy.
