I ran microsoft's "Windows Product Key Update Tool" on a virgin xp pro install from dell oem install media and the tool isn't reporting any file consistency errors in the oembios files.
microsoft is regularly updating their WGA program. it is possible that they'll check signatures on the oembios files at some point in the future like they are doing now in their "Windows Product Key Update Tool". this could cause systems that have been converted from VLK to OEM to fail the WGA check. anyone got thoughts of what microsoft's "Windows Product Key Update Tool" is checking that's causing the warnings about the corrupt oembios files?
might windows file protection (WFP) have something to do with the errors about the oembios files in the system32 directory?
Most likely because you swapped some files. As long as the system is activated and WGA passes it..you will be fine. That "Update Tool" will flag anything altered in the OS..even patched uxtheme.dll files.
the system in question passes the microsoft wga checks. winlogon lets users login without requiring any activation too. (winlogon.exe on this system is a virgin unmodifed file)
