    Is the patch for setup.exe? Can you explain more simple or upload patched setup file?

    run setup ( go to temp folder and edit msi with orca )

    tested .... fails

    The last decent VMware version is 16.1.2 (and now that vmware was sold to the sharks from broadcom the matter can be only worse).

    No point in spending time to patch 16.2+ and newer.

    what's so bad about vmware workstation 16.2+? i've used 17.0.0 and 17.5.0 and they've been fine. am i missing out on far better software by using workstation 17?

    vmware workstation 16+ works on windows 8.1. i remember using workstation 17 on 8.1 embedded industry pro and it ran fine.

    They removed the shared virtual machines feature, which was the best part of VMware workstation since the days of the good the good old VMmare GSX (then VMware Server 1.0/2.0), they raised (silently) the requirements of DirectX (breaking the 3D in machines that worked perfectly for a decade, in hosts w/o the latest VGA novelty) and other small quirks that made the passage from 16.1.2 to 16.2 a downgrade rather than a upgrade.

    yes and mount vm hard drive are removed
