Hi there.. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit operating system. But when I'm installing windows 7 64 bit OS in VMWare it displays an error message like "You have configured this virtual machine to use a 64-bit guest operating system. However, 64-bit operation is not possible. This host does not support VT. For more detailed information, see ." Can anyony please help me.. Thank you
What version of VMware are you running, as i dont have anu issues Reading in some other forums, people have reported issues with their motherboard - bios updates fixed this for them? Worth a look
Enable VT in your BIOS (if your processor supports it of course). Otherwise change the processor! This give it away really: "This host does not support VT" sebus
But it should still run though, I have x86 host and can even run x64 guests here. Have you set the preferred mode to automatic in the vm's cpu settings? If you're forcing it to use VT there it won't work.
is there a hack that will bypass the hardware restriction? my cpu does not support vst, but would love to be able to run x64bit on my vm.
probably off amd-v (or VT-x) is required for 64bit hardware assisted virtualization. with "Segmentation support" 64-bit software-only virtualization is posible, even without amd-v. ( AMD Athlon 64, revision D or later AMD Opteron, revision E or later AMD Turion 64, revision E or later AMD Sempron, 64-bit-capable, revision D or later )
Amd-v is always ON (at least with my limited experience of it, but some old Turion processors were simply not supported for hardware virtualization - as karrde above stated), only Intel VT can be turned off sebus
Seems that one learns always, and yet always there is something new... Thanks Stannieman. Still do not understand manufacturers that disable AMD-V & do not provide way to enable it, thay are just pure ***** sebus
