    Hi all,

After days of research in different sources, I hope you can help me:

I am using VMWare Professional 17 and want to hide my VM. Therefore I tried to change the DMI strings via Phoenix BIOS Editor

In particular, I tried to change the mainboard name with the Phoenix BIOS Editor 2.2 like shown in different "Hiding VM" vids. But starting the VM with the changed BIOS results in a freeze of the VM booting screen without any error shown.

So, is it possible to change the DMI strings in VMware Professional 17? If yes: which tool do you use and what are the steps? Would a hex editor work - like changing via DMI Edit and use the hex Editor on the rom file to adapt the settings looked up in the DMI editor?

In case all these things does not work: I need to change at least the HWIDs of my VM in the BIOS (BIOS SN, HWIDs, etc.) - any idea in this?

If you are more comfortable with PM, just send me a PM

Thank you very much in advance!

    Cya,

Unless you have a *very* specific reason there is no point in running the castrated vmware 16.2.x - 17. xx

    Use 16.1.2 or 15.5.7
