    Hi all,

    goal: I want to make use of bios like Dell's have in vmware, so I can change&use the "Asset Tag" value.

    actions: read several forums and added the line
    bios440.filename = "VMWARE65_SLP1_MANY_SLIC_DELL.ROM"
    to my vmx file, and added that rom to the same directory

    After a reboot, I quickly enter F2, but I still enter the same Phoenix bios. I also tried other biosses, but its always the same.

    I also tried the same in Fusion (on a mac). Same problem.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks in advance,
    friendly greetings,

    I take it you do have the VMWARE65_SLP1_MANY_SLIC_DELL.ROM file you also need to add path to where file is example:
    bios440.filename = "C:\VMWARE65_SLP1_MANY_SLIC_DELL.ROM"

    also when you go into bios it will still be the same itis still the original Phoenix bios but has dell slic and slp added, you can check buy installing widows and running everest.
    you cannot use asset tag because it is not a original dell bios.

    Ah thats too bad...
    I really thought it was a bios replacement, and not a "bios addon" or change.

    Why do people talk about on this forum about biosreplacement then? That is the confusing part of it....

    Thanks for the reply!
