This is the situation. I have 2 Virtual Machines that have been created for me using the latest VMWare Workstation (6.5.3.185404). One machine is Win 7 32 Bit and other is Win 7 64 bit and they were given to me to use with VMWare Player (I don't have VmWare Workstation).

I tried the bios440.filename = "VMWARE_HPQOEMSLIC-MPC_V2.1_SLIC.ROM" in cfg.vmx method. Everest shows it at HP Bios with Slic 2.1 but for some reason it does not get activated!!! Yes, I did delete NVRAM file.

I want to try Regina's method to replace vmware-vmx.exe, can I do that with VM Player???

I tried the Bios from Darre with HP mod and it worked like a charm. Both 32 and 64 activated.
