    Hello.

There is something that I don't understand. I've got no problems for modifying vmware player bios for windows xp slp activation using 'Hewlett' dmi string.

I mean using phoenix bios editor, I replace the 'VMware, Inc.' of the System Manufacturer Name with 'Hewlett'. Rebuild the bios. Start windows xp virtual machine using this bios.
Slic Toolkit 3.2 tell me in the slp1.0 tab : valid slp oem strings :
    offset 000e006d : Hewlett
    offset 000f3024 : Hewlett
    (why 2 different offsets ?)
In the memory access tab i can see the 'Hewlett' string in the 2 offsets.

Same operation with 'Dell System' dmi string.
slic toolkit : no valid slp oem string.
In the memory access tab i can see the 'Dell System' string in the offset 000e006d and 000f3024.

    So ... why ?
And what can I do ?

    Thanks.

Dell SLP string need to be located at specific offset, result a tiny area the sting should be located in, the Hewlett SLP string is searched in a larger area of the BIOS memory

You can do lots of things, it is difficult to answer, unless you ask a better question
