    I figure pretty much this might not be the appropriate place to ask this but. was there not a setting you could use in the VMX that would allow a host machines bios in the VM? For example if my host machine has a OEM windows 7 Bios the VM use that so you would not have to use a modded bios. If that is still the case can we not do that with Win 10 or did they take the bios shadowing out? pardon again if this was not the appropriate place

    As referenced here: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...0-0-slp-slic-bios-efi-mod.64693/#post-1133062
    Code:
    acpi.passthru.slic = "TRUE"
    acpi.passthru.slicvendor = "TRUE"
    SMBIOS.reflecthost = "TRUE"

    It should work for Windows 10 upgrade licenses from Windows 7. I could be wrong, but I don't think this will work for passthru of the ACPI MSDM table (Windows 10 OEM activation).

    Sure. This mod makes it possible to use OEM:SLP (permanent offline) activation for virtual machines running Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows Server versions up to Server 2019.

    SLP Version Windows Version
    SLP 1.0 Windows XP, Windows Server 2003
    SLP 2.0 Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008
    SLP 2.1 Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2
    SLP 2.2 Windows Server 2012
    SLP 2.3 Windows Server 2012 R2
    SLP 2.4 Windows Server 2016
    SLP 2.5 Windows Server 2019
    SLP 2.x is backward compatible, so an SLP 2.5 mod will support all prior SLP 2.x versions. The BIOS mods support both SLP 1.0 and SLP 2.x, the EFI mods support SLP 2.x only.

    There's a how-to-use pdf included in the download.

    Please look at the first post in this thread. The archives from the OP have the pre-modded BIOS, and UEFI 32-bit/64-bit firmwares going back to VMware Workstation v12 (see spoiler for old versions). Also the archives have a how-to PDF to explain how to use them.

    For your question about OEM discs of Windows XP & 7, it must be a manufacturer OEM (ex: Dell, HP, etc) to activate using the SLP 1.0 method (i.e. OEMBIOS key strings) or SLP 2.1 method (i.e. SLIC 2.1 ACPI table), respectively. Retail purchased OEM discs from Amazon or Newegg won't work.

    This is your problem.
    Dell's SLP1.0 is located in a different part of the BIOS than other OEM's.
    This has been pointed out many times in the past, including on the threads posted for you above.

    Theres is nothing Pantagruel can do to make Dell XP/SVR2003 OEM disks activate in any version of VMWare Workstation.

    The work around is to use another OEMBIOS set, a HP set is probably the easiest to find and activate.
    Like with SLP2.x it doesn't matter which files are used once the VM is activated.

    As for the the "Mega Bios Packs" you listed, forget them.
    There were a pain to get working when they were new, and had no effect on the VM or OS once installed and running.
