Hi everybody ! I've just installed VMware 6.5 WS and i tried to test the famous VMBIOS ROM I put into the VMX file the line : bios440.filename = "VMBIOS_ASUS_SLIC&SLP.ROM" at the top of the file ! then i registered and open vmware Has it boot : i didn't see no ASUS bios Ive tried also with DEL, HP , and the same pb ! are those ROM compatible with Vmware 6.5 or should i reinstall an older version ! It is very strange !! isn't it ? If some one have an idea ?
I don't know if older ROMs are compatible with WS 6.5, but you can find modified ROMs for WS 6.5 in this thread. Reports suggest that they work just fine.
Thanks But i've tried those files !! What is stonish is that i succeed with an older VMBIOSOEM dell ! This works fine, because when i start my VM i can see in little on VmWare 6.5 Bios Startup, OEM written in little !! So the ROM passes ! Does this little logo : OEM appears also on other ROM ? like ASUS HP ?
because you don't see i,e HP or dell logo when booting up has got nothing to do with it the bios patches this is a virtual machine and the mods are only done so you can check if it activates with your brand i,e, HP or Del e.c.t if machine activates with OEM CD /DVD then whats the problem....
Problem is that Vmware Workstation 6.5 doesn't support bios440.filename any longer. Only if the patched Bios ROM is direct integraded in vmware-vmx.exe.
Sorry my mistake Ok, I created a new VM and it's working. But no go for my old VM created with Workstation 5.5.6. (thougth converting it to "Default hardware compatibility 6.5" and using a 6.5 Bios would be enough but it isn't)
So to resum : What can i do : i downdload the ROM with the vmware-vmx.exe then i can test to activate ? What key can i use ?
you will need to use OEM and certificate key for whatever bios mod you are using you didnt say. i,e, ASUS Dell e.c.t
