Hi all, have the following problem, don't know if its a feature or bug though.
When trying to search with the start menu/taskbar search function of w10, no search results are displayed while offline or in airplane mode.

    context in which bug appears
    - offline (wifi off or airplane mode on)
    - registry is not tweaked
    - cortana and web results is off

    There is a fix(?) though:
When enabline network with internet connection, the results are displayed (still with cortana and web results disabled). But obviously, I don't to go online only for the sake of being able to search in the start menu/taskbar.
It remains working if network and/or airplane mode is turned off. however, when ending search or restartin explorer in the taskbar, the search function fails again. Also, when both Search entries are blocked in the outbound rules of windows firewall, even when going online the search function still fails.
In short, it seems that a valid internet connection is seems to be a requirement for the search function to work.
Control panel search and Settings search do work offline btw.

Anyone knows a fix to make this work offline or confirm its the way its supposed to work?
