    Hello.
    This question is regarding Windows 10 and Windows 7 both. So I decided to post it here in Windows 10 forum. If you think this should be in Windows 7 then you can move this thread to Windows 7 forum.
    History : So, I reserved my copy many weeks ago using windows 7. Later on 29 July I didn't get my windows 10 copy on that day. So, I downloaded Windows 10 manually and installed on separate local disk to test before upgrade but I found that Windows 10 was so lag and I decided to continue using Windows 7 and formatted Windows 10 partition.

    Problem : But, as I reserved my Windows 10 copy, today I am getting notification in quick launch that your copy is ready to upgrade. I am also seeing windows 10 optional update of 2000 MB in Windows Update Center. I did hide to that update. But still if I take any other update, the Windows update says Windows 10 is downloading. So, please I need to completely remove that annoying windows 10 notification and Windows update and where ever windows 10 things exist in my windows 7.

    Thanks:)

    KB3035583 will reappear in windows up date so when it does do not reinstall it but hide it in windows update.

    1) Uninstall KB 3035583. and then "Hide" the update to prevent it from being installed in the future.
    2) Take Ownership of the C:\Windows\system32\GWX folder, and then
    3) Delete the C:\Windows\system32\GWX folder.

    Kill GWX.exe with Task Manager. Take ownership of the GWX.exe file and rename it to GWX.old

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\GWX]
    "DisableGWX"=dword:00000001

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate]
    "DisableOSUpgrade"=dword:00000001

    To avoid Windows 10 Upgrade in case anyone is wondering, below are the updates that you need to hide:

    Windows 7:

    KB2952664
    Helps make improvements to the system in order to ease the upgrade experience to the latest version of Windows.

    KB3021917

    KB3035583

    KB3065987
    WindowsUpdate Client to enables the upgrade from Windows 7 to the next of Windows.

    KB3068708

    Adds the Diagnostics Tracking Service (Telemetry Client), which collects data about functional issues in Windows components.

    Windows 8:

    KB3021917

    KB2976978
    Helps make improvements to the system in order to ease the upgrade experience to the latest version of Windows.

    KB3035583 / KB3064683
    Update installs Get Windows 10 app

    KB3044374 / KB3050267 / KB3065988
