Please jump right on to the second post in this thread for WinFLP's excellent compendium of WAT KB971033 related knowledge.

My original post in this thread, much less useful than WinFLP's post below:

Sure it could be titled Daz and hazar beat WAT...haha.com

Bios mod also beats WAT but sometimes people have wrong cert or key otherwise good mod is solid

Well said. My opinion is that people are wasting too much time on WAT. If you are with hard modded BIOS and good cert and key, you are OK until Windows 8.

I was kinda saddened the hear that they black listed and fixed so many of the loop holes with getting past the Genuine Activation....
hmmm maybe it can be disabled completely and still show that its installed hmmm....
Yea I might try it out cause I have a genuine copy (this is what you get through being in college).....
Maybe I'll give it a shot with the upcoming builds being leaked so readily...

Here is one more HrOffline: 0x8004FE21" means that the WAT Update has found System Files that have ben modified in some way. (A Tamper has been found) is mostly connected to 3d party software that changes some important system files. Even if those files are not part of the validation process (thus resulting in a "genuine" validation), they may cause trouble. A known suspect is a program called "Vistalizator" that allows to install additional languages without having to upgrade to the Ultimate HrOnline: 0xC004C533 no slic 2.1 marker in bios

ok here goes pretty much you need to uninstall KB 971033 to restore functionality and/or make it genuine again...
Then if that doesn't work you just need to wait until someone comes out with a way to bypass the 60 or so fixes MS did to Windows 7

lol maybe actually try and prove that before posting it as it's totally wrong? once WAT marks you as non genuine youre non genuine until you revalidate with WAT again as genuine. You will remain non genuine even if you uninstall it

I installed KB971033 manually about 2-3 days ago (as it did not show up in Windows Updates) to see if anything bad would happen.

I have the BIOS mod (SLIC 2.1) + cert + serial and nothing has happened.

I installed all of the Windows LDR updates since then and Windows 7 x64 still boots normally... I'm trying hard to break things but it's just not happening lol.

What is known about detection of bios mods? Some (most?) have passed, and some have failed. One theory is bios date older than Win7. Another is something about tables not lining up. Anything definitive been discovered?

Bios Date being flagged is just a Theory at this point (Not a valid one in my opinion, but that may change).
I have seen many PC's with Bios Date 2004, 2005, etc, etc. all passing as Genuine.
The problem lies with the WAT system. Many Legit OEM PC's that shipped with Win 7 are failing to pass WAT.
This is mostly happening to HP and DELL PC's and some PC's with Gigabyte MB's.
