weird thing with update win8 pro to win8.1 pro

    my friend update his win8 pro to win8.1 pro and the rollup A update don't displayed in windows update and his win8.1 version is 16408 (explorer.exe). how it possible ? it's not win8.1 pro VL.

    It was already included in his upgrade.
    It's not something that's uninstallable in that case.
    Heck, I don't even know if the regular update is uninstallable even without a /resetbase

    yes, it's found in "installed updates".
    what's that resetbase ? part of a command ?

    The new dism command to remove obsolete system files from the winsxs folder and 'reset the base':
    dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup /resetbase

    It will make the winsxs folder smaller at the cost of not being able to uninstall any hotfixes.
