Hi guys, Please go easy, I’m new, tried to search but can’t find what I am looking for.

I am unable to install the OEM or retail versions of windows 10 on my Area 51 M15x R1. I have been informed that 2016 LTSB will work so was just wondering what the difference is and If I can get The functionality of my pro or enterprise to be the same as LTSB 2016? if not do you have 2016 LTSB here? I looked earlier but could only find 2019

    Regards, Richard

The error I get with standard windows 10 is ACPI bios error.. which doesn’t happen with LTSB

It is a complicated story, and many have the same problem, but some have said that they have found a solution.
You just have to experiment and search. However maybe something can still be done with it.

    PS.
What was there inside before? Was it Windows 7 or even something older?
I just ask this out of curiosity because many said the problem occurred when they wanted to install Windows 8.

I have been searching for a good week solid. All I’ve found out is that windows 10 wouldn’t work except the LTSB 2016 version.

I have the drivers (I think...) which I grabbed off a forum but I still want the original vista media.

when I bought the machine a month ago it had windows 7 32bit but.. nothing was installed & alien fx & GPU wouldn’t work as they are 64 bit. I presume the chipset drivers are as well which could be why it don’t find the Nvidia card.

Before you try to install Windows 10 there, try something old - for example Win 7. Otherwise, you won't know what the problem is if Win 10 doesn't work. Only try to install Win 10 when you are absolutely sure that at least Win 7 is working absolutely properly.
It seems to me that you have never seen this computer working before. Am I right?

Never seen it fully functional no. I use it for basic office stuff currently not gaming as GPU isn’t installed correctly. Like I said, Alien fx isn’t installed and working correctly either. This is why I was interested in finding original media. I will try 64 but windows 7 & I also need 2016 LTSB 10. I have a key for that anyway.

    £75 so not bad.

I could replace bios chip as I have the equipment to do so. Don’t think it’s a bios issue as such though..

    1. ...
    2. You need to get it to work properly in its original condition first. If that is done, you can start looking at what can be done next.
Restore the original first and make sure it works 100%.
Maybe there is really needed something replace as recommended, but You must be sure, it's needed to do.

2016 LTSB installed successfully. Just got to figure out the Nvidia black screen issue now... it’s a 9800M GT.

Nothing would work to to get it out of black screen so I’ve dropped to windows 7 ultimate. All drivers installed successfully and I have a working Nvidia card now :) I’ll perhaps revisit win 10 on a different HDD later. Just need to work out the steps to get the updates working now
