What? $30 for a piece of rubber ??

    No way I'm buying it. I'll make my own. (2003 Ford Taurus)

    My shifter cable came loose on the transmission as I lost the grommet somehow:

    I found a perfect sized socket out of my $4 Harbor Freight socket set to fit the hole in the lever:

    Looking through my toolbox I found a way to put em together:

    Now for some drilling. Chrome Vanadium is one hard metal to cut. I had my job cut out for me:

    Old Fudge: your repair looks good. It's always satisfying to fix things yourself for a fraction of what you've been told it would cost.

    Enthousiast: Speaking of Amsterdam, the hotel we stayed at while there had Heineken beer in the vending machines, along with sodas. :) That was a surprise to see. But that city is full of surprises. :D The FEBO automated food places were great for late-night munchies. We need those in the US also.
