I try right now an UNIX based distro: PC BSD.Just installed and a first issue:I cannot setup CDMA Modem yet( speacking about Joule PC BSD 10)... My intent is to open here a UNIX discussion because I cannot find something similar to forum.My intent also is to heard more and learn about UNIX desktop environement here.
I use Linux in my Android Phone and my Xtrend ET9200 SAT Receiver. Meaning ONLY in embedded systems. All my PCs are and will stay Windows systems. Meaning Windows 8.1 and a Essentials Server 2012.
UNIX-like systems are much better for those who are inclined into security as well as for the geek type. Although, using Linux(which is Unix-like) is much simple these days. but, some new hardware, random issues all needs the user to reach for terminal(command line). those who are comfy with CLI are good with *NIX.
Regarding security, anybody notice how many Bash updates have been pushed through recently? - although admittedly as "medium" priority - seems they are still working on vulnerabilities...
