Recently, I've bought an e8600. After installing it I found out the motherboard supports it, but the bios hasn't been updated for it. I noticed the site has a modded bios listed that has been tested for this system. But, I haven't been able to find what the bios update does. (the machine hasn't been switched back to the old CPU yet, so I can't poke around the files for an documentation)

The e8500 with Co stepping has been confirmed to work, but Eo stepping doesn't work on the board. The e8600 only comes with Eo. Could a moded bios update get Eo stepping working? Does that mod add e8600 support?

Thanks for any help. If lucky I hopefully won't have to hunt for a cheap e8500 that actually is of the Co variety.

The bios mod will probably just be SLIC 2.1 mod so windows 7 can be activated. As this machine comes with SLIC 2.0 ( for Vista )
