I have an original Windows XP OEM reinstall CD for MPC (formerly Micron PC) computers.

What files do I need to copy from it to use so a multi-OEM install can correctly identify MPC computers? Can the files be modified for Vista and Win 7?

Win 7 multi-OEM mis-identified an MPC laptop as an ACER. I'd expected it might tag it as a Samsung since that's who actually made laptops for MPC.

I'd also like to have SLIC data for modding MPC BIOS to preserve the manufacturer ID. Dunno how/if that's possible for Windows 7 since MPC went out of business before the release of 7 so the highest SLIC any MPC will have is 2.0 for Vista.

Serg008 modded the BIOS www dot sendspace dot com/file/18k9lv for SLIC 2.1, but WinPhlash doesn't work on Win 7 x64.

There are no MPC computers with SLIC 2.1 or higher. The company went out of business in 2008, before the release of Win 7.

OK, will try that. I have an older Hiren's it wouldn't work with. Wouldn't work with UBCD4Win or ERD Commander/DaRT either.

BIOS flashed, now I just need to poke Windows the right way to activate it.
