I have done some searching, but quite confused can anyone please tell me what is the best way to activate Windows 8.1 Pro right now? and also what is the best way to activate Office Pro Plus 2013 on Windows 8.1 Pro. Thanks
You can use any valid windows 8 and office 2013 key to activate. MS has updated the activation for Win 8.1, so most of the methods used for Win 8 and office 2013 do not work for Win 8.1.

There is no real good way to activate windows 8.1 at this time. We don't have KMS activation up and running. And we don't have a proper loader as of yet either as the general release has yet to happen. At this moment the only viable option would be to go for a bypass but its not a favored method.

@ coleoptere2007 ok, i started a sfc /scannow, now. @ Tito ok, so the "loader" (i mean the software i used) put a real retail key on my windows, because the only key I used was the generic pro key during install.
@aquarius84 Depends; if its some kind of hacktivator as said by coleoptere2007 then it just modifies various licensing related files in such a way that slmgr outputs are always shown as activated. slmgr shows the key is retail because of the installed generic Pro key which is a special kind of retail key. On the other hand heldigard's KMSpico now includes a function to search internet & get leaked retail keys (for Windows 8.1). For both cases, my advice is to stay away from those unknown programs & only use 8.1 if you have legit keys (till KMS V6 is successfully emulated).
If he meant the "activation tool" that was posted in PCBeta a few days ago (I think it was something like 4MB in size), I tried to download it and see what it is, and immediately Windows Defender and Avira gave a trojan alert, guess it involves editing system files, no further interest....... As for breaking KMS V6, I wouldn't give it too much hope, at least ATM.
AFAIK as long as there's no KMS v6 you can't use any loader, hacktivator, slic, kms or anything known before leaked keys and offline phone activation are the only way to activate Windows 8.1 and office 2013.
Since 8.1 uses a different way to activate I wonder those of us that are using todays KMS methods of activating 8 if we are going to have problems after getting 8.1 from windows update. Wonder if it will break our activations.
Yes you could be right. Ultimately, Microsoft released Windows 8.1 in order to prevent this kind of activation cracks and leaked keys.
