Hi, what would be the cleanest and safest way to disable Microsft spying on us in Windows 10? Is there a tool that is recommended? I'd rather do it myself though, if possible. Or should I just let it be? I've heard that it's compormising performance, that's another reason to disable spying. What do you recommend? Thanx.
I say leave it alone so everything works like it should, but this place is infected with Tin Foil Hatters, so wait you'll hear plenty, happy reformatting
You can't disable it completely. W7 & 8/8.1 also acquire monitoring thru updates. If you want to know what you can do, there are innumerable existing threads, and there'll be just as many in the future.
MSMG ToolKited LTSB + fake profiles + home baked cookies and logs, for banking/shopping I use a self destruct 'virgin' VM in a ramdisk.
Disable internet or make Windows think, there is no internet, then it will not even try to connect or send any telemetry, not to mention, it prevents Windows Updates as well. The problem is, that some software requires internet detection service running like HitmanPro or games like DeusEx, Hitman.
I'll say it again even though some think I approve, I do not if that is what they are doing, but in the end I look at it like 4 missiles headed towards a town, each missile is capable of destroying the town, what good does it do to stop 3.? Your computer send thousands of bits of data to MS each day Do you think you can stop all of them, well, I'll stop 500 of them Good job, you saved someone at MS alittle work.
The one truly clean way is, to stick with Win 7. Millions have tried it, and millions are convinced of the method and not ONE is disappointed by it.
No mention of MSMG Toolkit yet? I have not had any ill effects from it after stripping down Windows 10 with it. Has anyone encountered any issues with it? I also use Spybot Anti-Beacon and a good ol' hosts file from MVPS.
For spying, look at your phone/tablet/smart appliance, it actually does more spying than MS has ever done. You do realize that most distros these days also do "telemetry" just like MS does? Telemetry is very useful, and sure, it can always be abused, but, overall, it isn't anything to worry about.
