I'm not sure what the differences are between the two versions. What is the Pro's of installing Office 365 over Office 2021 Professional? Thanks...
The difference is very simple - Office 2021 Professional is a Microsoft product, Office 365 is service for using Microsoft Office that is part of the Microsoft 365 service. You might think that if you have purchased a Microsoft service, you will always receive all updates when they are available, but if you have Microsoft Office Professional or Microsoft Office Pluss Retail, then Microsoft will not always give you all updates or will share them much later. The reason is simple - this way they can get mush more customers who are in direct contact with Microsoft, and not with third-party vendors or resellers.
I understand why Microsoft has released the Retail version vs the 365 version and understand how LTSC works. There are still a lot of end users that simply can't or won't go to 365 so Microsoft has released the Retail version in order to keep them from moving to another platform. For me I only need Word, Outlook, Publisher and Excel. Can I tailor the 365 install to fit my specific needs or is it the full ride like Professional Plus is? I have never used 365 or even tried to install it so it is all new and it looks like 365 will be the future of Microsoft Office and I'm going to be doing a fresh install so maybe it is time, but I don't want all the unnecessary kruft installed.
So if i understand correctly, O365 KMS activated-no subscription, is preferred/better then 2021 KMS activated?
